Drew Pinsky, Burt Reynolds, Richard Pryor, Louie Anderson, Belinda Carlisle, Sharon Rocha, and Elisabeth Kübler Ross.

Prior to that position, he spent 20+ years as a journalist with People and Us Weekly magazines in Los Angeles, including stints as Assistant Managing Editor, West Coast Bureau Chief, and West Coast Editor. While it's true Drew had wonderful, skilled and insightful professionals in her hospitalization and recovery, the sickening feeling you get in your stomach is when you helplessly realize that these are tools, life changing tools, but none the less tools. I am looking forward to reading her book wildflower and seeing how her life has improved since her teenage years.

By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. His work includes books with Michael Richards, Dick Van Dyke, Valerie Bertinelli, Melissa Gilbert, Billy Dee Williams, Penny Marshall, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ann-Margret, Drew Barrymore, Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks, Cedric the Entertainer, Edward Burns, Cliff Bleszinski, Dr. Through reading this, I have evolved from someone who was merely interested in reading about someone who has experienced some of what I have, to avidly supporting Drew and feeling a sense of pride that someone who I don't even know has come out the other side of this. Instead however I had to make all my own mistakes and now I think maybe I should have paid more attention to her memoir.

Because really, eleven-year-olds don’t ordinarily snort lines of coke in the bathrooms at Studio 54 if they’re being supervised. He was recognized for his newsbreaking exclusives with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Robert Redford, Michael J. And as I’m a football fanatic, I’ve read so many footballer autobiographies and while there’s the odd exception, they are usually spectacularly dull! Being only 15 when she wrote the book she shows courage in sharing these hard times, and I am so glad she did. While I’m sure the book might’ve been written a little better had she been older when she wrote it, it was interesting to get a glimpse into her life not long after the start of her battle with drugs and alcohol. Drew Barrymore captured the hearts of the world, as the adorable wide eyed seven year old Gertie, in ET, in 1982. Not knowing much about Drew Barrymore as a person but liking her work I jumped at reading this when I got the chance. Faced with an abusive father, the execrable and vicious degenerate John Drew Barrymore( it is shocking to read of the physical and emotional abuse he subjected the little girl to) , a mother who was not always there, and nasty schoolmates, she drifted into the company of an older crowd and began her descent into drugs and alcohol by nine, when she began drinking alcohol, began smoking marijuana by ten (offered it by a friend's mother),and was snorting cocaine at twelve.

update: I re-read this immediately after reading Wildflower, and found it interesting to compare the two versions of some items that came up in both books - and also how Drew characterized her time in the hospital in Wildflower. and “The high-low of our need to stimulate the mind yet find silly things to do at night was just a silly juxtaposition, of course.Thank you for saving me from having to look at these ever – the stuff from Wildflower is just cringey when it’s even remotely comprehensible! I read a lot of memoirs but agree, the best ones are from people who have something to say because they’re passionate about something, as opposed to people who feel they ‘should’ publish opinions/ their stories. She also tells of her work on movies such as Firestarter, Irreconcilable Differences,Babes in Toyland and Far From Home. I particularly enjoyed some of the journals that she shared from rehab, and her changing perceptions of her father. At the time of publication of this book, her relationship with her mother had been progressing, although since this book came out, it is a known fact that her relationship with her mum has been strained.
